ptyaim is a very simple, extra special curses client for AOL's Instant Messenger (AIM) and ICQ services, plus Internet Relay Chat (IRC).  Its interface is somewhat inspired by naim.  However, it uses no code from naim.

The latest version of ptyaim has been tested on Linux, FreeBSD, OpenBSD, NetBSD, Solaris, Tru64 Unix, Mac OS 10.3, and Microsoft Windows 2000.  Most likely, it will work on other platforms, too.

30 Dec 2005 Version 0.5.7

This new version of ptyaim features improvements to the OSCAR plugin, including support for group chat.  The TOC plugin has also been removed.  If you're using Debian, the apt source has changed; please check the download section for the new entry to sources.list.  Happy new year!

23 Aug 05 Version 0.5.6

I have just posted a 0.5.6 release.  This features the new OSCAR plugin, plus the ability to initiate IRC DCC sessions.  Also are fixes for Tru64 and NetBSD builds.

22 Aug 05 The unfortunate demise of TOC

In the last two days I've been writing an OSCAR plugin from scratch, which works pretty well now.  Check out a screenshot if you don't believe me.  :-)  It supports most of the things the TOC plugin did, except for chat rooms, which, once I have the time I will add.  It also does things the TOC plugin couldn't, like check away messages, and save the buddy list to the server.  Once I test it on all platforms, I'll upload the tarball.

20 Aug 05 TOC seems to be down. Working on a plugin for OSCAR.
09 Aug 05 Discovered a bug in "make install." New tarball up.
08 Aug 05 Version 0.5.5 released!  This adds a new /toggle command, along with some bugfixes
03 Aug 05 Version 0.5.4 released!  UI changes, bugfixes
